Correct Score Game Scoring Rules

Correct Score Game rewards players for predicting Premier League matches as accurately as possible. An exact score earns the most points, but you can still be rewarded for correctly calling the result or finishing close to the final scoreline.

The system is designed to keep every fixture interesting. A perfect prediction can transform your Gameweek, while a series of sensible calls can steadily move you up the standings.

Your points from every completed match are added together to create your Gameweek score and your overall season total.

Points at a Glance

5 Points: Exact Score

Your predicted score matches the final result exactly.

3 Points: Close and Correct

You predict the correct match outcome and finish very close to the final scoreline.

2 Points: Correct Result

You correctly predict a home win, away win or draw, but your scoreline is not close enough for a higher award.

1 Point: Close Miss

Your prediction is close to the final score even though you do not correctly call the match outcome.

0 Points: Incorrect Prediction

Your prediction does not meet the conditions for any of the scoring categories above.

5 Points for an Exact Score

The maximum score for one fixture is five points. You receive this when your prediction matches the final score exactly.

For example, you predict a 2-1 home win and the match finishes 2-1. Your call is correct in every detail, so you receive five points.

Exact scores are difficult to land because one late goal can change everything. A match that appears to be ending 1-0 can become 1-1 or 2-0 in seconds. That difficulty is why exact predictions receive the highest reward.

A few exact scores in one Gameweek can make a major difference to your position in both global and private league tables.

3 Points for a Close and Correct Prediction

Three points are awarded when you correctly predict the match outcome and your scoreline finishes close to the final result.

This category rewards players who read the game well but miss the exact score by a small margin.

For example, you may correctly expect a narrow home win but miss one of the goals. You have still judged the overall shape of the match well, so the prediction earns more than a basic correct-result score.

The game calculates this category consistently from the confirmed final score and the prediction you submitted before kick-off.

2 Points for the Correct Result

Two points are awarded when you correctly predict whether the match will end in a home win, away win or draw, but your scoreline is not close enough for three or five points.

For example, you predict a 1-0 home win and the match finishes 3-1. You correctly called the home victory, but the final score was not close to your prediction.

Correct-result points are important across a full season. Exact scores can produce the biggest jumps, but regularly calling the right outcome helps build a competitive total from week to week.

1 Point for a Close Miss

One point is available when your predicted score is close to the final result, even though you do not correctly predict the match outcome.

Football matches can change with one late chance, a penalty, a deflection or a stoppage-time equaliser. The close-miss category recognises predictions that were near the final scoreline but fell on the wrong side of one important moment.

These single points may appear small, but they can matter over the course of 38 Gameweeks. Tight league tables are often decided by consistency rather than one spectacular weekend.

Scoring Examples

The following examples show how the different categories work in practice.

Your PredictionFinal ScoreOutcomePoints
2-12-1Exact score5
2-11-0Close and correct3
1-03-1Correct result2
1-01-1Close miss1
3-00-2Incorrect prediction0

The live game applies the scoring rules automatically using the prediction saved before kick-off and the confirmed final result.

Home Wins, Away Wins and Draws

A correct result means correctly identifying one of three possible match outcomes:

  • A home win, where the home team scores more goals.
  • An away win, where the away team scores more goals.
  • A draw, where both teams finish with the same number of goals.

Predicting 2-0, 2-1 and 3-1 all means you expect a home victory. Predicting 0-0, 1-1 or 2-2 means you expect the match to finish level.

When Are Points Added?

Points are calculated after the match result has been confirmed by the game.

In most cases, your score and leaderboard position should update after the final result has been processed. There may occasionally be a short delay while match data is confirmed.

Your result is based on the prediction saved before kick-off. Any attempt to enter or change a score after the match has started will not count.

Gameweek Scores

Your Gameweek score is the total number of points earned from all eligible fixtures in that round.

For example, if you earn five points from one match, three from another, two from three fixtures and one from a close miss, those points are added together to create your Gameweek total.

Gameweek standings allow players to compare their performance over one round of matches. They are useful for seeing who had the best weekend, even if the season leaderboard tells a different story.

Season Scores

Your season score is the total number of points you have earned from all completed Premier League fixtures during the campaign.

Each Gameweek contributes to this running total. Strong players combine exact scores with regular correct-result points and avoid missing too many fixtures.

The season table rewards consistency. One poor Gameweek does not end your chances, and one excellent round does not guarantee first place. There are hundreds of predictions to make across the full Premier League season.

Global and Private League Points

You submit one prediction for each Premier League fixture. The points earned from that prediction count towards every eligible leaderboard linked to your account.

This means you do not need to enter separate scorelines for the global competition and each private league.

Your same Gameweek and season totals can be compared with the whole Correct Score Game community and with friends, relatives or colleagues in your private leagues.

What Happens if You Miss a Fixture?

If you do not submit a prediction before a match begins, you cannot earn points from that fixture.

Missing one match or one Gameweek does not prevent you from continuing to play. You can return and predict any later fixtures that are still open.

Entering every available prediction gives you the best chance to build a competitive season total.

Postponed and Abandoned Matches

Premier League matches may occasionally be postponed, abandoned or moved to a different date.

Points are only awarded when a fixture has a confirmed result that can be processed by the game.

If a match is rescheduled, its prediction deadline and scoring treatment will follow the updated fixture status shown on the platform. Important changes will be displayed to players where possible.

Scoring Strategy

There is no guaranteed formula for predicting Premier League football, but understanding the scoring system can help you make better decisions.

Exact scores offer the biggest reward, but repeatedly selecting unlikely scorelines can leave you with very little. Sensible predictions based on team form, injuries, home advantage and likely line-ups may produce a steadier total.

It is also worth treating every match on its own merits. A side near the top of the table will not always win comfortably, while a team struggling for points may still be difficult to beat at home.

  • Check recent home and away performances.
  • Consider injuries, suspensions and likely team changes.
  • Look at how many goals both teams usually score and concede.
  • Think carefully before predicting very high scorelines.
  • Review your choices when important team news becomes available.
  • Keep playing consistently, even after a difficult Gameweek.
