Football prediction questions answered

Open any question below for practical guidance on predicting Premier League scores, earning points and competing against friends. For a step-by-step introduction, visit our How to Play page.

01What is a football prediction game?
A football prediction game asks players to forecast the outcome or exact score of upcoming matches. In Correct Score Game, you predict every Premier League fixture before kick-off and earn points based on how close your prediction is to the final result. Read our How to Play guide for the full process.
02How do correct score predictions work?
A correct score prediction means selecting the exact number of goals each team will score. For example, choosing Arsenal 2-1 Chelsea only counts as an exact prediction if the match finishes 2-1. You can still earn fewer points for predicting the right result or getting close to the final score.
03How many points do I get for a correct score?
An exact score earns 5 points. You receive 3 points for the correct result when both predicted scores are within one goal, 2 points for the correct result, and 1 point when both scores are within one goal but the result is wrong. See the complete scoring rules for examples.
04When do football predictions close?
Each prediction locks at the scheduled kick-off time of that individual match. You can submit or edit your score before kick-off, but changes are no longer allowed once the fixture begins. This means you do not need to complete the entire gameweek at once.
05Can I change a prediction after saving it?
Yes. You can return to the Predictions page and change a saved score at any time before that match kicks off. The newest saved prediction becomes your active entry. Once kick-off arrives, the prediction is locked to protect the fairness of the competition.
06Is Correct Score Game free to play?
Yes. You can create an account, predict every Premier League match, compete on the global leaderboard and create private leagues without paying. Gold membership is optional and adds features such as Assistant Manager AI, expanded Team News, ad-free use and additional private league tools.
07What is the difference between fantasy football and score predictions?
Traditional fantasy football usually involves selecting players and earning points from their real-life performances. A score prediction game focuses on forecasting match results instead. You do not need to manage transfers, budgets, formations or player injuries to enter Correct Score Game.
08Do I need football knowledge to play?
No specialist knowledge is required. You can make predictions based on instinct, recent results, favourite teams or simple score patterns. Following team form, injuries and expected line-ups may improve your decisions, but new and experienced football fans can compete on equal terms.
09What is a private football prediction league?
A private league lets you compete directly against friends, relatives, colleagues or other invited players. Everyone predicts the same Premier League fixtures, and the private table ranks members by the points they earn. Learn more about creating and joining private prediction leagues.
10How do I create a prediction league with friends?
Sign in, open the Leagues section and choose the option to create a new league. Give it a name and share its unique invitation code with the people you want to join. Their predictions will then count towards both your private league table and the global leaderboard.
11Can I join more than one private league?
Yes. The same set of Premier League predictions can count across multiple private leagues, so you do not need to enter different scores for every competition. This makes it easy to compete separately against friends, family members, work colleagues and other football groups.
12What happens if I forget to submit a prediction?
You will receive no points for a fixture if you have not saved a prediction before kick-off. Other matches in the gameweek remain open until their own scheduled start times, so missing an early fixture does not prevent you from predicting the later games.
13What is the best way to predict a football score?
There is no guaranteed method, but useful factors include recent form, home and away records, goals scored, goals conceded, injuries, suspensions and expected team selections. Try to judge how the two teams match up rather than relying only on their league positions or previous result.
14Are home teams more likely to win football matches?
Home advantage can matter because teams play in familiar surroundings and receive support from their own crowd. However, it should not be treated as an automatic home win. Team quality, form, tactical match-ups and player availability may be more important for a particular fixture.
15Should I predict lots of goals or low-scoring matches?
Your prediction should reflect the teams involved. Attacking sides with vulnerable defences may produce higher scores, while organised teams can create tighter matches. Looking at each club's recent scoring and conceding record is usually more useful than applying the same scoreline to every fixture.
16How can team news improve football predictions?
Team news can reveal injuries, suspensions, rotation risks and likely starting line-ups before kick-off. The absence of a key goalkeeper, defender or goalscorer may change the expected result. Gold members can access expanded match information through the site's Gold membership features.
17What is Assistant Manager AI?
Assistant Manager is a Gold feature that analyses available match information and provides a suggested correct-score prediction. It is designed to support your decision rather than guarantee a result. You remain in control and can accept the suggestion, change it or make your own prediction.
18Can artificial intelligence accurately predict football results?
AI can examine form, results and other available information more quickly than a person, but football remains unpredictable. Red cards, injuries, refereeing decisions, missed chances and unexpected performances can change any match. AI predictions should therefore be treated as informed guidance rather than certain outcomes.
19Does Assistant Manager improve during the season?
Assistant Manager can work with more current information as additional Premier League matches are completed. That provides a clearer picture of team form, scoring patterns, defensive records and player performances. Predictions can become better informed, although no football forecasting system can eliminate uncertainty.
20What is the global football prediction leaderboard?
The global leaderboard ranks Correct Score Game players across the full Premier League season. Points from eligible predictions are added to your running total, allowing you to compare your performance with the wider community as well as members of your own private leagues.
21Are there prizes for football predictions?
Correct Score Game may offer prizes for leading players in the global competition, subject to the published promotion rules and eligibility requirements. Full details of the current rewards, positions and conditions are available on the Global League Prizes page.
